After Hours Emergency
Policy for ETC
FOR LIBRARY STAFF ONLY
Instructional Programs occasionally schedules instruction
sessions during evenings and weekends in the ETC. Below are procedures
for resolving technical problems with the projector and workstations
for those teaching sessions during these times:
1. If the projector or other equipment borrowed from
the Media Department does not function properly, please call Media at
443-4612. Remember that they have limited staffing at that time and
will assist you as soon as they can.
2. For computer and networking problems, please follow
the standard LISD weekend and after-hours support procedures, as follows:
Reference Dept. is the central contact point for
weekends and after regular hours (8:30 - 5:00) support. All library
staff members who encounter computer network/server problems should
contact the Reference Desk first. The staff in Reference Dept. will
then contact LISD's cell phone number if it is an emergency. If there
are network/computer problems during the weekend, both LISD and CMS
have no staff in the office. Again, LISD would like to emphasize to
only use their cell phone number when it is a network/systems emergency
(for example, no one can login to the server even after rebooting PCs).
Please do not use this number if the problems only happened to individual
staff or a single computer. Staff experiencing problems with the Voyager
system should also report the problem following the above procedure.
For all non-emergency problems, please send email to lisd@syr.edu or
leave a brief telephone message at 4300."
Note: Since LISD staff members are not in the office
after hours, please keep in mind that some problems may not be resolved
during a particular instruction session. In those situations, please
consider alternate instructional methods.
3. In addition, please send a message to Sue Miller
at smmiller@syr.edu describing the problem, so that she can follow up
if necessary.
Thank you for your cooperation.
