Randy Bond, Librarian and member of Syracuse University Library's (SUL's) Fine Arts department, has announced his intent to retire effective January 7, 2004. Randy joined Syracuse University Library in March,1979, when he accepted the position of Fine Arts bibliographer. In addition to his numerous outstanding professional accomplishments as a Fine Arts reference librarian, selector and faculty liaison, Randy is complimented for his personal scholarly pursuits and research. He describes himself as a "life-long learner" and passionately speaks of his interests in teaching and research.
Randy received his Bachelor's Degree in Art History from Bowdoin College; his Master's in Art history from Harvard University; his Master's in Library Science and his Ph.D in Humanities from Syracuse University. Randy plans on continuing his teaching at Syracuse spring semester while he explores other exciting pursuits during his retirement. He notes that "after 30 years in the field of art librarianship, I am looking forward to having more time for research, writing, and teaching in American art and culture and preparing to move my family to New Hampshire. I have thoroughly enjoyed my service to SU faculty, students, and staff, and will always be grateful for their support and inspiration."
We appreciate Randy's dedication and service to SUL's community. We will miss him as part of our staff, but we look forward to seeing him in the Library during spring semester.
