Cambridge Scientific Abstracts Linking Unavailable January 27

The following message has been received from Cambridge Scientific Abstracts:

Dear CSA Customer:

We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties that have forced us to bring down the linking server. Links to full-text, local holdings, ILL, document delivery services, and OpenURL resolvers will be unavailable during this time.

This was done in response to a large number of our customers complaining of very slow or non-responsive service. Our development staff is aware of the problem and in the process of streamlining our linking processes. Linking features will be back online as soon as we can introduce that module of code without significantly impacting the performance of searching CSA Illumina. We expect this to take no longer than 24 hours.

We appreciate your patience while we work to correct this problem.

New Literature Database Available

Through the New York State Library's NOVEL Program, a new database for literature research is available to SU Library users:

The Twayne Authors Series is the premier literary reference resource series comprising Twayne's U.S. Authors, Twayne's English Authors, and Twayne's World Authors. Each of these individual titles provides literary criticism for approximately 200 authors, bringing the total number of authors covered in the Series to nearly 600. Each author selected for coverage is tied to the high school and college curriculum.

The Twayne Authors Series offers criticism by scholars on hundreds of years of literature--from Aristophanes to Bharati Mukherjee. It provides critical introductions to the lives and works of writers, to the history and influence of literary movements, or the development of literary genres. Primarily devoted to critical interpretation and discussion of authors's works, these studies take account of major literary trends and important contributions to scholarship and criticism, and provide new critical insights and original points of view.

The Twayne Authors Series is structured in a consistent format: All titles feature comment elements, such as a chronology, a biography, a comprehensive critical analysis, and an annotated bibliography. The discussions of each author in the series are between 175-200 printed pages.

Note: NOVEL is a statewide virtual library provided free to the public by the New York State Library. It is currently a project funded through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
